The Heart Nebula

Located approximately 7,000 light-years from Earth, the Heart Nebula is a vast star-forming region located in the constellation of Cassiopeia.

Its heart-shaped silhouette is particularly recognizable, but it also reveals many finer structures when enough light is accumulated. At the center of the nebula lies a cluster of young stars whose radiation illuminates the surrounding gas.

This photograph seeks to preserve this distinctive shape while bringing out the different layers of gas surrounding it.
